I love it when the GIM folks have enough CLASS to SHARE really important things like this.

POPULATIONS due matter. I just wish we could access things like populations in the FIRST SPOUSES in PCGS' INNER SANCTUM of numbers.

I have access to NGC. And before the scoffers (and making themselfs wise became foolish) mention PCGS -

Well NGC just gave the GOLD FINGER to competition when they were selected to GRADE the TEN BIGGEST coins in America

the TEN 1933 Saint Gaudens that the GOVERNMENT seized.

I'd take the cleaned one but they would not take my $5,000 offer. Easy come easy go. :36_3_16:

Heck, the last one sold for just SEVEN million US Dollars a few years back. :111:

Yep, I will get the hard copy issue soon of COIN WORLD and will read the article again.

MS66 = 1
MS65 = 5 to 7
Less = 4 to 2
MS details (cleaned) = 1

I don't know who slabbed them the custodians or the pass down owners.

I think any Saint is good, Saint Master_Ho.

HS

I wonder what the sales prices will be?

Re: Gold eagle population

I posted a chart in another thread on AGE mintages but I had to delete it because it's simply too hard to pin some of these numbers down. In many cases the best #'s we have to go on are last reported sales which have not been finalized by the mint. These #'s are often revised down to account for returns and cancellations. The 2006 W-unc #'s are still in limbo but as posted here they are too high. I have read the 2007-W #'s here are accurate which changes some of what I thought about keys.

I'm trying to find NGC MS70 populations for $5 and $10 08 W GAEs, anyone?

Re: Gold eagle population

Based on what another dude (an mint insider?) posted on another forum I feel more confident in calling these #'s up-to-date:

To date there are nearly 200 coins in the Gold Eagle series, across all designs and denominations. (I am not including the 1999 'error' 1/10 & 1/4 oz. W - mintmark coins struck on unfinished proof dies as there are still no published mintages for those).

Here are the 10 lowest mintage Gold Eagles:

1. 2008-W Unc. 1/4 oz.- 8883
2. 2006-W Reverse Proof 1 -oz. - 10,000
3. 2007-W Unc. 1/2 oz. - 11, 458
4. 2008-W Unc. 1 oz.- 11,908
5. 2008-W Unc. 1/10 oz. - 12,657
6. 2007-W Unc. 1/4 oz. - 12,786
7. 2006-W Unc. 1/2 oz. - 15,164
8. 2006-W Unc. 1/4 oz. - 15,188
9. 2008 -W Unc. 1/2 oz. - 15,682
10. 2007-W Unc. 1 oz. - 18,609

On a proof coin the fields (background) are mirrored and the devices are frosted.
On a reverse proof, the devices are mirrored & the fields are frosted.
